Oh, I hate to be the one to bear the bad news
Yes, it is true
I finally fell in love
I fell so hard that I'm killing myself
Yes, I need out
Out of this grave that I've dug

And all the friends that I have gone through
And how much I deserve the pain
It's a shame

So hold your head
Hold it up high
Here's to the friends that were alibis
Keep this close by your side
When I come home we will have our night

Oh, they always told me I was gorgeous in a way
And that fateful day
I found who I was
So fill this hole with my prescriptions
I just keep feeding my addictions

And all the friends that I have gone through
And how much I deserve the pain
It's a shame

So hold your head
Hold it up high
Here's to the friends that were alibis
Keep this close by your side
When I come home we will have our night
We will have our night

You were the ones that stood by my side, whoa
And I was the one that fought all of your fights
Go!

(Hold your head, hold it up high) Whoa
(Keep this close by your side) Whoa

So hold your head
Hold it high
Here's to the friends that were alibis
Keep this close by your side
When I come home we will have our night

Hold your head
Hold it up high
Here's to the friends that were alibis
Keep this close by your side
When I come home we will have our night

Hold your head
Hold it up high
Here's to the friends that were alibis
Keep this close by your side
When I come home we will have our night
We will have our night
"I finally fell in love
I fell so hard that I'm killing myself
Yes, I need out
Out of this grave that I've dug"

Sometimes i think that the thing he mentions as "love" is drugs, not intentionally though. its ironic!
They made him fall, and he dug himself into a hole he couldnt get out of.

"So fill this hole with my prescriptions
I just keep feeding my addictions"
That's got to be one of my favorite songs by ETF. :] The lyrics are absolutely ah-mazing.
Yeah, DIYLF is a masterpiece to me!
sureeely. this lyric is soo amazing, it almost made me cry, lol . nobody but ronnie could have written it, and surely it talks about drugs.
I love the lyrics!
"They always told me I was gorgeous in a way" is such a great line <3
Haha, this song was awesome Smile
The first verse is my favorite part Smile
i absolutley love this song
can't get any better than this
Smile
I wish I could find a video of Ronnie singing this, not that I don't like Craig, but because it was Ronnie's song. I like Ronnie singing Ronnie's songs, and Craig singing Craig's songs. Anyways, all I can find is this clip that was taken on the set of "Not Good Enough..."'s music video.

This song is so purely Ronnie. Love it.

I always find a lot of parallels in this to his life... the drugs one was mentioned.
"When I come home, we will have our night"? To me it's just so prophetic of him going to jail.
"Oh, they always told me I was gorgeous in a way
And that fateful day
I found who I was
So fill this hole with my prescriptions
I just keep feeding my addictions"

And this absolutely shows how ronnie all the time knows what it is with him...who he is..that he is not the gorgeous he seems to be..that he is a person who is poor, because he sais it was a fateful day when he found out about who he was...and that he is so poor he has to fill the hole in his heart with drugs...it so much my favourite song
In the recent podcast, Craig said he would never sing The Day I Left The Womb because it's Ronnie's song. He also said they won't play When I Go Out, I Want To Go Out On A Chariot Of Fire anymore. I think this is the only other song on the first album they shouldn't play, because it really comes from Ronnie's heart. It's a beautiful song.
^yeah i think this is the only other one on the borderline of what they should and shouldnt play. but id rather hear them play their new songs right now anyway so yeah
Love it. <3
great song, honestly really bad ass and I'm glad I got to hear them play this live Big Grin
I wonder if Ronnie will ever play old ETF songs live with From Behind These Walls. Probably not, but it would be kind of cool.
