RE: i'm gonna suicide! :P
That's what I thought the first time I listened to it, and a friend and I sent Max a super long angry myspace message. xD
This is his reply: actually the lyrics on the last album dont mean anything. theres only a few songs that are about something real, most of them are just words that were put together that "sound cool" everything on this album is about somthing real, this album has 100 times more meaning and spirit than the last one. and the song "harder than you know" is from craig to his child and his childs mother. thats probably one of the most real songs on the album. we write music on how we feel, thats what we did in the begining and thats what were doin now, we just dont want to be a band like senses fail and write a bunch of songs that all kinda sound the same. |

uhhh wut they feel????? wuts happened.........i liked their old one better, i mean hey its cool that they're tryin somethin new but i miss the old etf and it will never be the same w/ out ronnie. they have a few good songs, like the flood and guillotine II but come on, as heart warming and thoughtful as harder than you know is, honestly it scared me....i thought i had the wrong band.

Hmmm, there seem to be a lot of people that feel the same about ETF's new album in here, it's good that you all feel comfortable enough to express your opinions without fear of being jumped.
That's a good thing, I'm not talking trash. I couldn't do that before.I personally agree, ETF sounds MUCH different now, although reading Max's reply to 'laurelfairy's message makes me feel a little better. There's only one thing that strikes me as untrue about that: What about Webs We Weave, Day I Left The Womb, etc? Those were all VERY real. Hmmm, I suppose it will just take some time to get use to ETF's new sound.

I couldn't do that before. I know, he did say a "few" songs though. I'm guessing they were some of the few? I know for a fact that The Day I Left the Womb is real, and I felt slightly betrayed when he said that most of the songs were just words thrown together to sound cool, but then I remembered something. The beauty of art is that it's meaning is left up to the interpretation of the viewer. If the song has meaning to you, then the song now has a meaning. :] |

RE: i'm gonna suicide! :P
They are growing as Musicians. I find their new Album pretty daring and it's expected that some people weren't going to be into it, and that's fine. I actually like the new record, no successful band makes it by repeating themselves over and over again. They took a chance and I think they hit the mark. Just placeing my own opinion here, but I think it's kinda sad that some have turned their backs on them. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and sure, we choose what Music we want to hear, but continuously writing them angry/salty messages isn't right. It sucks to see immaturity running rampant among some former fans who seem to take the intiative to bash them every chance they get....
Escape The Fate has changed, and I think it's for the better. |

There's nothing to really disagree with, and I would just like to point out that Escape The Fate has ALWAYS been there for us before, whether they helped pull us out of some depression, or if it was just to brighten up our day. The least we could do to give thanks to them is help support them through this time, to be with them no matter what. We can still miss how ETF was before, but in my opinion it's a lot better now because we don't have to worry about drug influences, someone getting high backstage before shows. The lies are over. This way, ETF is clean. Craig is a good, honest, hardworking guy, who happens to love his new band. ETF's new happiness should mean the world to us. What do you guys think?? |

It fucking sucks being around people who are heavily into drugs, I nearly lost 3 people in my Life to Meth and Cocaine and they turned into people I didn't recognize, trust, or want to be around. They(ETF) seem SO MUCH HAPPIER than before, I saw them play at Chain Reaction, and while it was a kickass show, you could still sense the nervousness and anxiety they had. I went to their show in Vegas on the 25th and Dude they were freaking unrecognizable! But in a good way! They all were fucking Happy, giving a fucking awesome performance. The anxiety was gone and they seemed so appreciative for the positive response they were getting. Whatever the guys had on their mind at Chain was gone and you could see Humility and Gratitude they all had for those who stood by them and believed in them. Twas priceless really. I met Bryan that day ...well I shouldn't say met lol but I did score a pic with him and he was so nice and approachable. Bottom line, I'm down with promoting and supporting these guys....I mean after all the shit they had to go through, they kinda derserve it...they DO sound diffrent, but that's growth and growth is ALWAYS a good thing. After all, who the fuck wants to hear the same shit over and over again? I sure as Hell don't. |

RE: i'm gonna suicide! :P
I dont dislike the new album. its okay but i dont really consider them Escape the fate anymore. Ill agree that these songs are a bit more personal, but it was way too mushy for my taste. i mean 1 or 2 love songs is fine, ashley was good and so was something but i didnt like harder than you know and you are so beautiful. Let it go was good too. My favorite songs was 10 miles wide and the guillotine 2. I like the flood but it reminds me of Dragging dead bodies in blue.... too much. It the same structure type song, both start with a guitar riff. then verse then chorus, guitar riff again then verse again then chorus again then a screaming part to finish the song.
I dont like craig singing that much but its okay. if it wasnt for the guitar and bass i wouldnt have liked it. I think ronnies voice owns craigs voice. Craig should have stayed with bless the fall. its pretty obvious that Omar and Ronnie were the metalcore people. they left escape the fate and they took the etf sound with them. I like th old ETF style but if i picked up the new CD without looking at the cover or name i would still like it and besides the old CD was getting old.

Come on,Craig"s voice can suits any song.
But ronnie maintain his style as he sings.. We cant really judge whos better or not. So why not just accept it. Althought i really prefer the old ETF then the new one. and awaiting Ronnie to get on to his new band or something. THE SKY IS FALLLLINGGGG!!! <Robert Is COOL> |

RE: i'm gonna suicide! :P
At first I hated almost every single song on the album except for The Guillotine II, The Flood, and maybe a few other songs on it. But after listening to it, it's a great album.
Craig's voice is great, Ronnie's voice is great, everyone in the band is great. But the singer doesn't make the band, nor does one guitarist or drummer or bassist. They took a huge leap of faith to put the band back together, and I appreciate their choices. ETF forever <3 |
